  • David Young V - Studio Visit

Interview with local artist David Young V at his apartment in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. This was a conversation as a lead up to David's one man show at Babylon Falling, Live Forever. Comprised of over 100 pieces, the work in Live Forever represented the first stage of an exploration of life in a San Francisco torn apart by conflict, and existing in a state of confusion and fear with the physical world destroyed and social roles transformed. David talks with us about his early immersion in the east coast Punk scene, his discovery of the world of street art, war, repression, and of course his obsession with Micron 08 pens. • Make an Effort - D Young V at White Walls Gallery - short film by Colin M. Day - Warholian

D Young V - Make an Effort July 9- July 30, 2011 - White Walls, SF The work for Make An Effort is a continuation of Young’s exploration of a theoretical post-apocalyptic San Francisco – a rebuilt world, full of new ideals, technology, religion and language created from scratch. Young poses the question “What would happen if people decided to restart civilization?” He points the viewer in this direction by loading up his new pen-and-ink-meets-wheat-paste pieces with invented and recycled symbols, alongside artistic renditions of current San Francisco residents. To obtain these images, Young worked in collaboration with local photographer Shaun Roberts to perfectly capture these San Franciscans as imagined versions of their own post-apocalyptic selves. - Colin Day for Warholian For more on "Make and Effort" at White Walls visit: http://www.whitewallssf.com/artists/david-young-d-young-v-1/ For more on D Young V visit: http://www.dyoungv.com/

  • Artist David Young V Profile - White Walls, SF - Warholian

www.Warholian.com David Young V is best known for portraying a future world where history has been replaced with relics from a forgotten world, namely our modern society. Tribes of individuals have created culture from what is left of ours, and there is a sense of lawlessness about. David Young V then takes these characters draws them with pen and ink. His extremely detailed works can not only be seen in the gallery, but also on the streets. You never know which city corner may hold a chapter (and a wheatpaste) from the future world Young V has created. Be sure to check out David Young's upcoming show at Gallery Three (Upstairs at White Walls Gallery): http://www.WhiteWallsSF.com

  • Unstoppable Tomorrow Vol. 1 - Featuring Artists John Felix Arnold III, D Young V, Christopher Burch - Old Crow Tattoo & Gallery

Unstoppable Tomorrow Vol. 1, an exhibition of new and collaborative works by John Felix Arnold III, Christopher Burch, and David Young V. Unstoppable Tomorrow Vol. 1 expresses the need for collaboration and the sharing of ideas to create a platform for creative survival. This event is highly anticipated as it marks the artists’ first show together since the closing of Babylon Falling in 2008. It will showcase a multi media explosion of new work, at the heart of which lay collaborative efforts in drawing, painting, installation, and sound. The work for this show confronts the idea of an inevitable reset of society, depicting future events that bring this about, and illustrates members and events within this new society itself. An opening reception will be held at Old Crow Tattoo and Gallery in Oakland, CA on Friday December 3rd, 2010 from 7-11pm and the exhibition will run through January 5th, 2011. All three bodies of work exhibit an intense sense of cataclysm, hope and drive in the face of dark new beginnings, rebirth, reuse, and evolution through adaptation and creative thinking. The show will be set in an installation depicting this future world, much like that of a history museum display. Unstoppable Tomorrow Vol. 1 is a fully collaborative, mixed media event where all three artists converge as would be survivors of this afterworld to tell their story of what happened, what is happening, and how they perceive it through their distinct visual languages.
